워터루 전쟁 때에 나폴레옹은 대포를 여러 군데 배치해 놓고 승리를 장담했습니다.

During the Battle of Waterloo, Napoleon confidently positioned his cannons in multiple places, certain of victory.

그런데 작전 개시 바로 전날 밤에 소나기가 쏟아짐으로 대포 바퀴가 진흙탕에 빠져서 나폴레옹은 전쟁에서 졌습니다.

But the night before the battle, a sudden downpour turned the ground into mud, trapping the wheels of his cannons. Because of that, Napoleon lost the war.

인간은 누구나 내일을 알지 못하지만 하나님만은 아십니다.

Humans do not know what tomorrow holds, but God does.

하나님은 소나기로도 역사의 방향을 바꾸어 버리십니다. 그러므로 우리 인간은 하나님의 도우심을 받아야 합니다.

With just a rainstorm, He can change the course of history. That is why we must rely on God’s help.

우리가 아무리 생각을 많이 하고, 계획을 많이 세워도 하나님의 도우심이 없으면 그 어떤 일이든지 잘 되는 일이 없습니다.

No matter how much we think, plan, or strategize, if God’s help is absent, nothing will succeed.

그러므로 하나님의 도우심을 받아야 합니다. 누가복음에 보면 어떤 부자가 농사가 잘 되서 곡식을 쌓아 둘 곳이 없도록 풍년이 들었습니다. 그래서 창고를 더 짓고, 곡식을 잔뜩 쌓아 놓고, “자, 이제는 오래 먹을 수 있으니 먹고 즐기자. 내 영혼아 평안하라.”

In the Gospel of Luke, there was a wealthy man whose land produced an abundant harvest. He had no place to store all his grain, so he built bigger barns, stocked up his wealth, and said, “Soul, you have plenty of grain laid up for many years. Take life easy; eat, drink and be merry.”

그럴 때 그것을 보고 하나님께서 “어리석은 부자야, 오늘 밤에 네 영혼을 도로 찾으리니 너의 쌓아둔 물건이 뉘것이 되겠느냐.”책망했습니다.

But God said to him, “You fool! Tonight your soul will be taken from you. Then who will get all that you have stored up?”

그렇습니다. 때로는 우리가 내 힘으로 모아 둔 내 재물, 내가 가진 건강으로 내가 평안하게 오래 잘 살 줄 알지만, 하나님의 도우심이 없으면 안 되는 것입니다.

That’s right. We often think that the wealth we accumulate, or the health we possess, will allow us to live securely for a long time. But without God’s help, none of it will matter.

너희는 무엇을 먹을까 무엇을 마실까 구하지도 말고 근심도 하지 말라 이 모든 것은 세상 사람들이 구하는 것이다. 너희 하나님 아버지께서는 이런 것이 너희에게 있어야 할 줄 아느니라.

“Do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them.”

그런 것들은 내가 도와주면 된다. 그러니 “너희는 먼저 그의 나라와 그의 의를 구하라 그리하면 이 모든 것을 너희에게 더하시리라.”

God can provide your needs. “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.”
