가이드 포스트의 노만 빈센트 필박사는 인간에게 세 가지 중요한 것을 지적했는데, (1) 크게 생각해라, (2) 크게 행동해라, (3) 크게 믿으라, 그렇게 하면 당신은 반드시 하나님의 위대한 축복을 누릴 수 있다.

Dr. Norman Vincent Peale of Guideposts pointed out three important principles in life: (1) Think big. (2) Act big. (3) Believe big. By doing so, you will surely experience God’s great blessings.

그렇습니다. 새해에는 생각도 크게 하시기 바랍니다. 어지간한 일에는 너무 고민하거나 걱정하지 마시기 바랍니다.

So, in this new year, think big—don’t dwell too much on minor troubles or worries.

그리게 크게 행동하시기 바랍니다. 소위 통 큰 사람으로 많은 사람을 사랑하고 섬기면서 사시기 바랍니다.

Act boldly—take decisive action. Live generously, loving and serving many.

그리고 무엇보다도 하나님을 잘 믿으시기 바랍니다. 통 크게 믿으세요. 잘나지도 못했는데 너무 따지고 계산하지 말고, 하나님을 감동시키는 하나님을 깜짝깜짝 놀라게 하는 믿음으로 사시기 바랍니다.

And above all, trust in God wholeheartedly. Believe big. Don’t overanalyze or hesitate, thinking you have it all figured out. Instead, live with faith that moves and amazes God.

반드시 하나님의 위대한 축복이 있을 줄로 믿습니다. 그렇다고 지나온 삶이 필요 없었다는 얘기는 아닙니다.

I firmly believe that God’s great blessings will surely follow. This does not mean that your past was unnecessary.

때로는 너무 아프고 힘든 순간이었지만 그것은 모두가 나를 향한 하나님의 사랑, 하나님의 경륜, 하나님의 섭리였습니다.

There were painful and difficult moments, but every single one of them was a part of God’s love, His plan, and His divine providence for you.

사건 하나하나가 다 뜻이 있고 내게는 필요했습니다.

Each event had a purpose and was necessary for your journey.

그렇다면 문제는 앞으로 새해의 삶을 어떻게 살아야 합니까?

Now, the real question is: How should we live in the new year?

내가 어떻게 사는 것이 가장 보람된 일이요 행복한 일이요 후회 없는 일이요 하나님이 기뻐하시는 일입니까?

What kind of life will be the most meaningful, fulfilling, and free of regret—a life that truly pleases God?

다시 말해서 내가 어떻게 살아야 복의 근원이 되겠습니까?

In other words, how can we become a source of blessing?

성경에 나오는 수많은 인물 가운데서 영적으로 육적으로 물질적으로 가장 큰 축복을 받은 사람이 아브라함입니다.

Among the many figures in the Bible, the one who received the greatest spiritual, physical, and material blessings was Abraham.

아브라함은 회회교에서도 존귀함을 받고 유대교에서도 아브라함 아브라함 자랑스럽게 여깁니다. 우리와 같이 개신교에서도 아브라함의 신앙을 귀하게 여기고 믿음의 조상 축복의 조상이라고 하면서 그를 본받으려고 합니다.

He is revered in Islam, honored in Judaism as a source of pride, and in our Christian faith, he is esteemed as the father of faith and the ancestor of blessings. We seek to follow his example.

원하옵기는 새해에 우리들도 아브라함처럼 복의 근원이 될 수 있기를 주님의 이름으로 축원합니다.

My prayer for this new year is that we, too, may become a source of blessing like Abraham.
